For this blog post I have decided to create a "podcast" to explain the nostalgia I have experienced relating to important pieces of clothing within my own life. Through this post I explore a red cowl-neck top, and a camp t-shirt in relation to significant events and feelings I have experienced thus far. I hope you all enjoy !

Clothing Spoken About In the Podcast
Concluding Thoughts
I hope everyone enjoyed this short little introduction video, I just briefly wanted to go over some lasting thoughts I had after recording this mini video. Within Professor Jenkins' week 10 lecture I feel as if a key point to look over is clothing as a "second skin" and how our clothing tells the stories of the personal experiences we have gone through in life, whether that be good or bad (Jenkins 2020). After I had made this podcast and reflected on the lecture I had decided to do some more research on memories and clothing. I found an article that really spoke to me and it was based on the song "Cardigan" by Taylor Swift. This song talks about the importance of clothing in relation to memories and emotions, specifically how young love always stays in your mind through these sweet experiences with someone(Haran 2020). Taylor Swift makes this direct correlation with clothing and identity which is something everyone can relate to. She specially talks about a cardigan in relation to memories with someone she had a romance with. She states "I felt like an old cardigan under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favourite". Basically Taylor Swift was using this cardigan to represent her emotions and experiences with this person, specifically using words like "old cardigan" or "you put me on and said I was your favourite" to show what she went through with this person (Haran 2020). In my case, my cardigan is the red cowl-neck shirt. The relationship with that person I went out with did not work out, but every time I put on that shirt I think of all the memories I had experience within that shirt. Not only the memories, but how I felt with that person. Taylor Swift really has a way with representing clothing within her music and displaying it as a second skin like Professor Jenkins had mentioned in the lecture. We always associate people with the clothing they wear because the clothing represents the essence of the person they are (Haran 2020). I thought this representation would be beneficial to speak about because it clearly shows the relationship with a person and their clothing.
