After conducting all of my interviews on what makes a certain piece of clothing important to a person, I've come to learn that these special pieces of clothing keep memories alive and allows one to "time travel" so to speak back to an important moment in their life. Whether you're a minimalist or someone who never lets go of the items they possess, we all have at least one piece of clothing that takes us back to a moment in time where we felt happy or sad or confused. It's pieces of clothing like this where we can feel a certain emotion from and keep those memories we may forget otherwise wrapped up in a physical item that we can touch and smell. Personally memories are so important in my life because they make me reflect on the past and show me how far I've come as a person and I think I've realized that that's the whole point of nostalgia, to reflect on one's life. For my life that red cowl neck top was a moment in time where I felt real feelings with the guy I was on a date on and I don't want to forget that amazing adrenaline feeling but at the same time I can reflect on how far I've come as a person from that moment in time and that that butterfly feeling doesn't last forever. At the end of the day you need someone that you can rely on who's always going to be there for you, not just someone who makes you feel happy for a short while. For my sister, Sabrina, her dance competition jacket was a reflection of how far she has come in dance and all the obstacles she has faced over the years. It also holds memories of endless competition dances and exciting award ceremonies with close friends. For my best friend Alyssa, her dance bra brought her back to a hectic but rewarding time in her life where she got to dance 6 days a week and compete on stage in front of hundreds of people. Despite malfunctions with the bra, it holds some of the best memories about competition believe it or not. For my mom, Carole, her engagement dress was nostalgic to that excited nervous feeling of getting married soon. My parents have been married for over 25 years now so this allows my mom to reflect on the early days and look back on the early days.
